Operator Basics

 

 

When Mounting an Industrial Lift Truck:

Use hand and footholds properly to get on or off vehicles (three-point stance).

Adjust seat position for comfort.

Wear your seatbelt.

Never operate a lift truck with wet hands or shoes.

 

Never touch any controls with grease on your hands or gloves.

Locate data plate and obey the load capacity of the forklift and its attachments

Look in the direction of travel and do not move forklift until certain that all persons or obstacles are clear.

Watch out for pedestrians.

 

Avoid driving a forklift up to anyone who is standing in front of a bench or any other fixed object.

 

 

Match your speed to the surface being driven on, load and workplace conditions.

 

Do not overload your truck or add extra counterweight.
